Who is Settlement Professionals Inc?

Jack L. Meligan, CSSC, BCFE

Mr. Meligan has been involved in the financial services industry since 1979, first as a Financial Analyst and then as a Registered Investment Advisor. From January 1985 to the present, Jack has specialized in the structured settlement marketplace, with special emphasis on comparative analysis of structured annuities vs. alternative investment options. He is the author of several articles regarding structured settlements, including one dealing with the conflict of interest inherent in the current process.

In November of 1995, the National Structured Settlement Trade Association (NSSTA), in conjunction with the University of Notre Dame, conferred upon Mr. Meligan the designation of Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC), in recognition of his successful completion of more than 60 hours of course study culminating in a comprehensive examination covering such topics as insurance casualty claims practice, state and federal laws pertaining to tort settlements, medical reversionary and special needs trusts, macroeconomics, the art of negotiation and business ethics. Jack is one of only ninety-seven industry professionals from across the country to have earned this designation.

In July 1996, Mr. Meligan was accepted into membership of the American College of Forensic Examiners (ACFE). The ACFE recognizes experience and education of individuals engaged in forensic examinations covering multidisciplinary training in medical, scientific and investigative sciences. The ACFE is comprised of a collective group of professionals actively engaged in the field of forensic examination and consultation.

Jack travels extensively across the U.S., and resides in Lake Oswego, Oregon, with his wife Kathleen and their two daughters.

Helen J. White

Helen is in her 18th year with Settlement Professionals and senior executive to Jack Meligan and office manager. A favorite part of Helen’s job is working with clients and playing a small part in helping bring what was likely a terrible experience to a happy conclusion.

Helen has two grown daughters and when not working she loves dining out with friends, gardening, and spending time at the beautiful Oregon coast.

Trina A. Nicholson

Trina is enjoying her eighth year at Settlement Professionals. She is Personal Assistant to Jack Meligan and among her many duties, manages Jack’s nationwide insurance licensing, Trial Lawyer Association advertisements and conventions, accounting tasks and various special projects. In addition, Trina is able to impart her extensive knowledge of computers to help ensure smooth running of the company’s office computers, equipment and software.

In her spare time, Trina enjoys taking online college courses and some of her interests are computers, comedy, sports and animals.
